Due to continued growth within ACT, we are hiring an office manager to support our Operations Director.

Office Manager 

Here at Advanced Cutting Tools we have a busy and dedicated team. We have distinct roles of course, but at the same time we are always there for each other.

We now have an opportunity for an exciting Office Management role; a keen and capable multi-tasker with amazing attention to quality and detail – and an unerring dedication to our brand purpose.

You will have a can-do attitude and the willingness to learn, understand and anticipate what founder Michael and his team require from the day-to-day of this important role as it is established and as it evolves.

Indeed, we expect you to be yourself, because of your own instinct and intuition, to grow not only your own effectiveness but also the scope and impact of the role itself.

Our office is based the North East of England. We are together a great team situated in a great office space, working as part of an established and respected brand. However you may be expected to travel both nationally and even internationally from time to time.

  • Managing and running a office
  • Effective stock control and warehouse responsibilities on site, as well as logistics and external stocked vending solutions
  • Management of all staff activity and client requirements with responsibility for operational and KPI delivery.
  • Organising and achieving activity based on pre-set budgetary requirements.
  • Recruiting, leading, training, coaching and motivating employees to meet the companies objectives 

The Skills & Experience required for this role: 

  • Previous office / business management experience 
  • Previous Warehouse Management experience including stock management 
  • Experience in people management 
  • Experience within an industrial consumable / Industrial supplies environment is desirable 
  • Knowledge of Lean Management principles would be an advantage 
  • A comprehensive understanding of cutting tool environment, supply channels and technical distribution.
  • An exceptional solid communicator, and organiser of roles, responsibilities and staff. 
  • A confident individual with firm, although flexible understanding approach, building on current staff performance.

Essential Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Educated to GCSE - Level or above
  • Education in logistics, supply chain management would be an advantage
  • Self-motivated individual with a desire to succeed
  • Strong analytical skills (reporting and interpretation)
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to lead, develop, influence and inspire a team
  • Preferably experience with Sage 50 or sage 200 ACT’s ERP operating system
  • Someone who is willing to go the extra mile to see the company succeed and grow
  • Someone who takes pride in their organisation, department and colleagues success
  • Punctual with a friendly can do attitude whilst maintaining a good sense of humour with both colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Understanding of Microsoft Office features:

  • Outlook to communicate with customers / suppliers
  • Excel to prepare information from / to system
  • Word to type up official forms as required


  • Managing office based staff, work load and customer expectation
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers
  • Operational problem solving
  • Maintaining and improving all aspects of business operation 
  • Improve current procedures
  • Office security and staff safety 
  • HR 
  • Overseeing BSI Stock audits

Oversee operational areas with KPI’s 

  • Vending Solutions 
  • Quotations
  • Back order
  • Returns
  • ERP pricing customer / supplier
  • Order numbers
